Term Expires: 12.31.2021
The Mayor is elected to a four-year term, and is primarily responsible for the public safety of the community with emphasis on law enforcement and the day-to-day oversight and administration of the police department. The Mayor also serves as the official spokesperson for the community and represents the Borough at various civic and social functions.
The Mayor is not a member of the Borough Council, but may attend all Council meetings, take part in discussions and has the authority to break a tie vote of Council.
The Mayor reviews each ordinance and resolution of a legislative nature enacted by Council, and may approve it by signing, or has the option to veto it, or permit it to become law without signature. If the Mayor vetoes an ordinance or resolution, Council may override it with a two-thirds vote.
